Abstract
Lakshita is an Indian word signifying achievement of goal and that is the name of the
newest and most modern human settlement in outer space, meant for imparting education to
new generation of space by providing the first hand experience of learning and training.
Our new space generation will be required to perform many jobs in space which they don't
need to perform while living on earth. So it becomes imperative for them to learn about
fields like life support system maintenance and their up gradations, operations in and
around settlement (including space walk), material sciences which will facilitate mining,
extracting, and processing, space power sector, medical sciences (including Physiological
and physiological problems) etc while living in space only. Our design of educational
settlement will have various sections to enable residents learn different skills in
different areas. In the proposed settlement, the torus has eight segments providing
education and training in different fields. The unpressurized zones provided in
microgravity region will be used as a training region which includes training for disaster
management. Sliding capsules are provided to vary the value of g thereby helping in
studying physiological and psychological problems and their remedies. The residents will
study all the important factors that influence the growth of plants in space like
minerals, the climatic conditions (temperature, light, atmospheric composition). Trainees
have an opportunity familiarize themselves in complete range of solar array services
including photovoltaic engineering, radiation effects analysis.
